All About Me Craft Ideas

(1) Paper Plate Faces

These cute crafts are so fun for toddlers to decorate and glue on different facial expressions and their make their own hairdos.

Materials + Guide

  1. Paper plates
  2. Yarn for hair
  3. Paper cutouts of facial features
  4. Stick Glue or Liquid Glue

Print out some face features and have your child practice gluing pieces to the paper plate either using liquid glue with a paint brush or using stick glue.

(2) High Five Balloon Tennis

Here is a quick and easy, entertaining activity made from cardboard again. I love using cardboard for activities because you can be so creative with it!

Materials + Guide

  1. Cardboard
  2. Scissors
  3. Popsicle Sticks
  4. Hot Glue Gun
  5. Balloons

First, you will take your hand and trace it 4 times. Then, you will cut all four hands out. Next, you will glue the popsicle stick between the two hands. These make two “High Five” puppet hands that you can have your kids decorate or leave them the way they are. Use these to play balloon tennis inside our outside!

(3) Cardboard Name Puzzle

Taking pieces of cardboard and recycling theme for a name recognition activity. This is another quick and easy activity that will have you children engaged for a long time!

Materials + Guide

  1. Cardboard Piece (Long enough for name)
  2. Hot Glue Gun
  3. Carpenter Blade or Precision Knife

First, trace your child’s name in bubble letters on a long piece of cardboard. Then, you’ll cut all the letters out and set aside. Next, you’ll glue the cut out piece with name on it to another piece of cardboard so that the puzzle has a back to it. Last, you can paint, color, and decorate the puzzle to make it more colorful and inviting for your child.

(4) Tracing Bodies And Painting Them

Your toddler will love this activity and painting a tracing of their own body! They will get to see how big they are on the large paper and then enjoy painting them too. You can do this super easy craft idea inside or outside too.

Materials + Guide

  1. Large Paper
  2. Markers/Paint/Crayons

First, you will trace all around your child laying down on a large piece of paper. Then, you can have your child paint or color the tracing of their body. You can talk about where the different parts of their body are and have them repeat them to you as they color them.

(5) Sorting Family Activity

You can do this activity with any colorful objects, but we used our sorting family learning resources to do this one. I created a color sorting page using Canva (L O V E Canva) and then I laminated it. These are also great for play doh mats too.

Materials + Guide

  1. Paper (Print this mat, or use colored construction paper)
  2. Colorful sorting family set

Talk about the different colors and how to pronounce them and point to the colors as you say them. Count how many pieces you put on each color together and let them explore!

(6) Fingerprint Investigation Activity

This little investigation is easy to prep and you child will love exploring their fingerprints. With only a few things to prep your child will be engaged in this activity for a long time.

Materials + Guide

  1. Paper
  2. Ink Pad
  3. Magnifying Glass

Take your child’s fingers one by one and help press them down on the ink pad and transfer them to the strip of paper. You can have them explore with the magnifying glass and count how many fingers you have and talk about what the name of your fingers are.

(7) Dot stickers on Name on wall

Another quick and easy activity to master fine motor skills and name recognition. A fantastic way to learn your child’s name and also focus on eye hand coordination and fine motor skills!

Materials + Guide

  1. Large Paper
  2. Marker
  3. Yard Sale Stickers (Or any you have)

Guide the older toddlers to follow the lines of their name. If they are younger, working on getting the sticker off and transferring it to it to the paper is great work alone. Sound out your child’s name to them and talk about each letter in their name and how to pronounce those as well.

(8) Face Play Doh Mats

Creating different play doh mats are a great way to stretch your child’s imagination and present a variety of invitation to play ideas. We love making different themed ideas for our play doh activities.

Materials + Guide

  1. Play Doh (Best Homemade Recipe Here)
  2. Paper
  3. Laminator

First, print out a face and laminate it. Then make your play doh and let your child explore creating different faces for your face. You can talk about the different emotions we all have and how to express them.

(9) Emotion Language Cards

Printing out emotion cards are a great way for your child to study different emotions. I got mine HERE at Little Graphics Etsy Shop and there are 24 different emotions to choose from. I always place out 5-6 at a time and switch each week through out the month.

Materials + Guide

  1. Emotion Cards
  2. Cardstock
  3. Laminator

First, print out the emotion cards and glue each on to card stock. Then, after you have cut everything then use your laminator to protect the cards. I place them in a basket 5-6 at a time and set it on their shelf for them to explore. I also pull them out during circle time to talk more about them.

(10) Parking Lot Name Recognition

Create your own parking lot with cardboard and markers and turn this into a name recognition activity. These are inviting for toddlers to start learning their names and have fun with cars at the same time. We are all about making learning fun and this was so perfect for my toddlers.

Materials + Guide

  1. Cardboard
  2. Paper (I used cardstock)
  3. Maker
  4. Hotwheels
  5. Tape

First cut a small shallow cardboard box in half and draw lines for the letters of your child’s name. Next write out your child’s name twice on a piece of paper and cut out all the letters. Then tape the letters on the cars and also to the parking spaces. Have your child match their letters on the cars to the spaces and talk about how to pronounce each letter and their names.

(11) Wash Germs Off Hands

I saw this one on Instagram from @mothercould and I had to try it! This was a perfect activity to follow along our “self care theme”. Using a soft bottle brush you can clean away the germs while not getting messy at all!

Materials + Guide

  1. Ziplock bag
  2. Hair Gel
  3. Marker
  4. Pom Poms
  5. Painters Tape
  6. Soft Bottle Brush

First, you will draw a hand on the ziplock bag. Then, you will add some gel to the bag and some pom poms. Next, lose it and tape it down to a table. Have your child wipe away the pom poms and make the hands all clean!

(12) Self Care Brushing Station

Having a self care station set up is a perfect way to practice independence. Being able to try and brush their own hair while watching in the mirrors also takes eye hand coordination.

Materials + Guide

  1. Mirror
  2. Brushes/Combs
  3. Basket or Tray to put them in.

Leave a mirror and basket with brushes and combs on a table, shelf, or small vanity area for your toddlers to access. Toddlers love being able to do things on their own without mom or dad to help and it teaches them to gain confidence in themselves as well.

(13) Teeth Brushing

This is an awesome learning resource I found online and have added it to our shelf for our self care segment. The boys love to pretend the brush the teeth and also helps when they brush their own!

(14) Clothesline Activity

This is an activity I came up with and wanted to add to their shelf and self care/hygiene theme. Using a Cricut, I made lots of small clothes and laminated them. This is fun and challenging activity that is great for strengthening their pincer grasp.

Materials + Guide

  1. Card Stock Paper (Draw you own and cut them out or use a Cricut to make clothes)
  2. Laminator (Optional if you want to re use the clothes)
  3. Scissors
  4. Popsicle Sticks
  5. Tape
  6. Mini Clothespins
  7. Yarn

If you’re using a Cricut, cut out small pieces of clothes and laminate them. If you want to draw them yourself and not laminate them, you can do that as well. Tape one popsicle stick to one side and do the same to the other side. Tie yarn to each side of the popsicle sticks and add some clothes pins and the mini clothes to the tray!

(15) Body Flash Cards

We printed out these body flash cards from Teacherspayteachers.com to add to our “all about me” theme and “my body” theme. These are great to expand your child’s vocabulary and learn what the names of their body parts are.

Materials + Guide

  1. Body Parts Flash Cards
  2. Laminator

Place these cards 5-6 at a time in a basket on a shelf or use them during your circle time. Switch them out every week to give them a chance to learn groups so its not overwhelming and they don’t lose interested.

(16) Movement Cube Activity

This activity focuses on your child’s gross motor skills and movement of their bodies. Roll the dice and hop like a frog, or run like a cheetah! This is great for outdoors or a rainy day to work out all that wild toddler energy.

Materials + Guide

  1. Movement Cards
  2. Cardboard
  3. Hot Glue Gun

First, I used recycled cardboard to make the dice by hot gluing 6 sizes together. Then, I used the hot glue gun to glue the colorful card stock and then the movement cards on to the cube.

(17) Senses Puppets

Here’s a quick and easy way to explore our senses by using cardboard cut outs, Popsicle sticks and print outs of our 5 senses.

Material + Guide

  1. 5 Senses Print Outs
  2. Laminator
  3. Popsicle Sticks

First, print the cut outs and laminate images of the five senses. Then, you will hot glue them to the Popsicle sticks to make “Puppets”. Put these in a basket with images of using our 5 senses or use them during circle time.

(18) Body Puzzles

This was a fantastic purchase for our all about me themed month and I highly recommend them! These puzzles are perfect for toddler and preschoolers and its great to expand on whats inside and outside our bodies.
