Trying out different textures, materials, ingredients to keep learning interesting and fun has been a blast! Today we added this Taste Safe MoonSand Recipe to our list of favorite sensory bin fillers. This soft yet durable MoonSand recipe was easy and quick to make and you can involve your children to make it as well!

Raising a toddler you realize how fast they find objects and put their mouths. This MoonSand recipe is a go-to activity in our house and can be a regular fun activity you can do with your own kids at home and know it’s not harmful to your child’s body.

What Is MoonSand?

Believe it or not but there are only 2 ingredients in this moonsand recipe and its as easy as putting these 2 ingredients in a bowl and mixing it together with your hands. You can have your children help you as well, but be prepared, it does get messy. You’re not having fun unless you make a mess am I right?

Materials + Directions For Taste-Safe MoonSand

Materials:

  • 4 cups of flour
  • 1/2 of coconut oil
  • Kitchen Gadgets/tools
  • Bin/Container/Sand+Water Table

Directions: Put the flour to a large bowl. Add the coconut oil to the bowl and mix it with your hands by squeezing the ingredients together. When the moonsand is done you’ll notice that when you take a handful of the mixture the flour sticks together.
