What You Will Need

You’ll only need 5 ingredients for this simple and delicious snack. With using just dried oatmeal, almond butter, a banana, chia seeds, and chocolate chips make the perfect bite. My boys are obsessed with these and we try to make them on a weekly basis. You can also switch the almond butter for peanut butter or chocolate chips for raisins or nuts.

First you’ll take a large (or 2 small) banana and smash it up in a bowl and set aside. Then you’ll measure out 2 cups of dried oatmeal and pour it in a large bowl. Gather some almond butter, chia seeds and chocolate chips for the next step.

Then, you will add the smashed banana, 1/4 cup of almond butter, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. This recipe inspired me from a cookbook that has a similar “energy bite” recipe. I created this one from what ingredients they love and my husband and I really enjoy them as well.

Once you have everything in a bowl you will mix it together until all the ingredients are covered evenly. You will put it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to harden up before rolling them into balls or using an ice tray to create little cubes.

Last, you will get your mixture out and take a small amount at a time and roll them into little balls or use an ice tray (that works just as well). These make about 18 little energy bites and are usually gone within 3-4 days in our house.
