Here are 3 easy flower activities for toddlers using only one bouquet of flowers! You can create three different activities using one bundle of flowers in this activity. If you have flowers in your yard that you let your children pick that’s great too! If you don’t, it’s only $4-$5 dollars to buy a small bouquet of flowers at the store and I even had some leftover to sit in my window sile.
Flower Activity #1: Cutting Flowers
The first activity is cutting flowers. If you feel comfortable with your toddler using scissors (mine is 2 and a half in these photos) show them how to use them while you hold the flowers to cut. Sometimes toddlers will want to cut the stems on a tray and use both hands. Always use supervision during this activity and sit right by them the whole time.
Flower Activity #2: Freezing Flowers Sensory Play
After the first activity cutting flowers, freeze them in little ice cube trays or containers with water to make a beautiful sensory play activity. Use this sensory play idea outside later during the day and watch your toddlers explore these little nature treasures you created. You can have them smash the ice up or use the magnifying glass to take a closer look.
Flower Activity #3: Flower Sensory Bin
Last activity of the day use the leftover flowers and the frozen flowers and put them a sensory bin. Your children will find the melting flowers absolutely fascinating and will engage with them for a long time. These 3 flower activities were spread out for an entire day and still had leftover flowers for other activities another day.
