Cotton Ball Painting

Using cotton balls, clothespins, and paint, we were able to create a cotton ball painting activity today! Finding things around the house and transforming them into painting utensils is a great way to let our children express their imagination and our appreciation for art. Playing with primary colors blue, yellow and red allows our children to mix and play with more than just the three colors given to them.

You can find these inexpensive items from mostly Walmart and the Dollar Tree. Shopping at these locations is a great way to save money if you can’t find them online. These items will also last a long time and you can re-use most of the things you buy at these stores.

What Does This Activity Focus On

I love art and I’ve always been into crafts, and working in childcare centers right out of high school has inspired me to do these activities with my own kids now. My toddler is two years old now and the activity list is only expanding as he grows and matures. Working on fine motor skills is important in early childhood and inspiring my children to do art at the same time is really special to me as well.
