Painting With Corn

September 9, 2020

When painting with toddlers it is always fun to switch up the utensils they use. Painting with corn makes a pretty cool pattern on the paper when you roll out the paint and is perfect for a fall craft! We used this corn right after we did some corn shucking together.

What Materials Do I need?

You only need 3 materials for this painting activity for toddlers. After shucking the corn together you’ll use the corn to paint with. Along with the corn on the cobs to paint with you’ll also need a large piece of paper and paint!

Why Is Art Important For Toddlers

Incorporating art crafts in your daily routine at home is so great for little ones. It helps them explore and learn about colors and use their imagination to great lengths. It’s also great because it helps toddlers take ownership of something they make all by themselves.

Guide

Have your child shuck the corn with you. Put a large piece of paper on the table and add many different dots of paint to the paper. Once the leaves are peeled off the corn, you can use the corn to roll around in the paint on the paper. Take about the different colors and what colors are being mixed. You can also talk about where corn comes from and when it is harvested.
