Deep Sea Sensory Bin

Water play is always an awesome time but when the weather is preventing you from doing it outside why not bring water play inside? It’s been so hot and rainy lately my boys haven’t been able to enjoy the water outside. That why I chose to do my Deep Sea Sensory Bin for water play today and adding some cool effects made it even more exciting.

Where Can You Find The Materials For Deep Sea Sensory Bin?

  • Bin (Walmart)
  • Edible Glitter (Amazon)
  • Deep Sea Animal Figures (Amazon)
  • Bath toys (Gifted)
  • Food Coloring (Local Grocery Store)

My kids absolutely love the water, so anytime they need a re-direction, I get a container/bin out and fill it up with water. They both play for long periods of time and as usual, Wesley ends up getting in the water and doesn’t want to share it with his brother. They both searched for the animals hidden in the water and Theodore loved pouring the water out of the boats. Anytime you can encourage water play in your kids’ day is a good day!

Other Sensory Bin Ideas

There are so many options when choosing a filler for your sensory bin/tray. Here are a few combinations I have done with for my own toddlers:

Why Sensory Play?

Why sensory play? Well, children learn everything through their senses and as soon as their hearts start to beat in the tummy. The earlier you can get your children to challenge those senses through learning activities, the more you’re enhancing their development.

Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain’s pathways, which lead to the child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks.

When your child uses their senses it encourages them to also use their fine motor skills, transferring skills, independent and pretend play, counting and measuring skills, and so many more. It may not seem like they are learning all these things but when you get these activities in front of them you’ll see how much they learn and have fun while doing them!
