Washing Pumpkins Station

September 8, 2020

This washing pumpkins station is a great activity for rainy days and is just as exciting to do outdoors! We love sensory bins in our home and this foamy soap recipe added a more exciting feel to the activity. Sensory bins offer so many skill-building opportunities to further development and are so much fun for toddlers and preschoolers.

How To Make Foamy Soap

You only need 3 things to create this foamy soap and I got the idea from Mother Could. She has awesome ideas and I highly recommend giving her a follow! I found this a while ago and thought it would be perfect to create a fall-themed pumpkin washing station with this recipe.

What You Will Need

You only need these three items to create your own foamy soap for this washing pumpkins station activity:

  1. Liquid Baby Soap I use >>this<<
  2. Food Coloring >>Here<<
  3. Water

This recipe works so great to create an exciting sensory experience and a way to practice washing and rinsing. I recommend lots of towels for this activity as there will be a ton of water on the floor (Hehe!) If you wanted to do this outdoors that would be great as well.

Things Your Child May Be Learning During This Activity

Sensory play is a big part of learning in the early years of life and it is an inspiring way to get creative and make learning more fun! Your child will be using their sense of touch to feel the soft soap on their hands. They will also be using their eyes to practice color recognition. Your child is also using their gross motor muscles to transfer the pumpkins and water to each side of the sensory table.
